Synopsis:
Shining Through is a romantic espionage thriller set against the backdrop of World War II. It’s 1940 and Linda Voss (Melanie Griffith) is a woman of Irish, Jewish-German parentage who loves the movies, especially films about war and spies. She gets a job at a New York law firm, after it’s revealed she can speak German, fluently. As secretary and translator to Ed Leland (Michael Douglas) she begins to suspect that her boss is involved in espionage work. The two become lovers, but time is not on their side as America officially joins the Allies in the fight against Hitler, and Ed’s true identity is revealed. When an American agent’s cover is blown Linda volunteers to go behind enemy lines as a government spy. With the help of a fellow operative ”Sunflower” (John Gielgud) she penetrates the Berlin home of a high-ranking enemy official Franze-Otto Dietrich (Liam Neeson).
