Synopsis:

In early 1990s New York City, a deeply corrupt and self-destructive police lieutenant investigates the brutal rape of a young nun in a Catholic church. The lieutenant, unnamed throughout the film, is consumed by gambling debts, drug addiction, and a pattern of abuse of his position across the city’s streets. While the nun refuses to identify her attackers and speaks of forgiving them, the lieutenant becomes increasingly obsessed with the case as his personal life collapses around him. Facing catastrophic losses on bets placed on a baseball playoff series, he searches for the perpetrators while confronting his own profound moral degradation.
