Fist of Fury (Bruce Lee At Golden Harvest)

Chen Chen returns to the international compound of China only to learn of his beloved teacher’s death. This is compounded by the continual racist harassment by the Japanese population in the area. Unlike his friends, he confronts it head on with his mastery of martial arts while investigating his teacher’s murder.

In the early years of the Republic of China in the 20th century, Chen Zhen returned to the Jingwu Hall in the Shanghai International Settlement to attend the funeral of his master Huo Yuanjia, and planned to marry his childhood sweetheart. Although the doctor said that Huo Yuanjia died of a stomach problem that turned into a cold, all the disciples in the Jingwu Hall had doubts, and Chen Zhen vowed to find out the truth.
At the public memorial ceremony for Huo Yuanjia, translator Hu led two members of the Japanese Hongkou Dojo to provoke and presented a plaque with the words ”Sick Man of East Asia” inscribed on it. Chen Zhen and others were furious and wanted to take action, but were stopped by the eldest brother.
Chen Zhen was unwilling to see his master being humiliated, so he returned the plaque to the Hongkou Dojo without telling his fellow disciples. He defeated all the martial artists with his Mizong Fist and Nunchakus, and even made the two people who had provoked him at the public memorial eat a piece of paper with ”Sick Man of East Asia” written on it. After leaving the dojo and walking to the park, he saw a sign that said ”Dogs and Chinese are not allowed”. He started arguing with other Japanese again and even kicked the sign in mid-air, breaking it into pieces. Suzuki Kuan sent a large number of people to retaliate, smashed and beat up the Jingwu Hall, and demanded that the hall hand over Chen Zhen.
After Chen Zhen returned to the museum, he prepared to leave Shanghai after being persuaded by everyone. However, that night, they found Chef Tian and Manager Feng, and heard that Huo Yuanjia was poisoned and it was related to a ”Mr. Hu”. They also discovered that Chef Tian was actually Japanese. He beat the two men to death, hung their bodies on a telephone pole, and then left the martial arts hall. Later, the junior sister found Chen Zhen at Huo Yuanjia’s tomb and reminded him that Mr. Hu might be Hu the translator.
Translator Hu gave Suzuki Kuan an idea to put pressure on the police station to arrest Chen Zhen. After watching a geisha striptease with Suzuki and the leader of the Russian Axe Party, Pirov, Hu the translator left in a rickshaw, but the driver turned out to be Chen Zhen in disguise, and they were pulled into a dead end. Under intimidation, translator Hu revealed that Suzuki Kuan was the mastermind behind the scenes; translator Hu took the opportunity to launch a sneak attack, but was beaten to death by Chen Zhen instead. Chen Zhen then destroyed the telephone line connected to the Hongkou Dojo and sneaked into the dojo disguised as a repair technician to test its true strength.
That night, the junior sister brought the senior brother and several others to Huo Yuanjia’s tomb, but they couldn’t find Chen Zhen. After the Hongkou Dojo had just sent its chief men away in disguise and armed with swords, Chen Zhen broke into the dojo alone, killed a group of warriors, and after a fierce duel, he killed Pirov and Suzuki Kuan one after another.
The eldest brother and others returned to Jingwu Hall and found that all the disciples had been slaughtered and almost wiped out. The Japanese consul urged the police to go to the Jingwu Hall to ask for the person. Chen Zhen returned to the gym and stood up to pay for his life to prevent the Jingwu Gym from being closed down. He walked out of the gate and kicked a group of armed police officers in the air. Amid the continuous gunfire, Chen Zhen’s figure was captured in a fixed shot.
