Title:
Very Best of
Description:
Album Notes
10cc: Eric Stewart, Lol Creme (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Graham Gouldman (vocals, guitar, bass); Kevin Godley (vocals, drums, percussion).Compilation producers: Bas Hartong, Bill Levenson.Digitally remastered by Chris Herles.Includes liner notes by Chris White.Remastered German edition. This 15-track compilation is probably the best of several 10cc compilations available, mostly because it’s one of the very few which combines tracks from their first two albums, including the British hits ”Donna” and ”Rubber Bullets,” with their later, better-known material recorded for a different label. As a result, THE VERY BEST OF 10CC gives the fullest overview of this talented group’s stretch from snarky pop pastiche (”The Dean and I”) to quirky, ironic art pop (”I’m Not In Love,” ”I’m Mandy, Fly Me,” ”Art For Art’s Sake”) to the relatively straightforward commercial pop of their later albums (”Things We Do For Love, ”People In Love”). All of these elements are present to some degree in all of their songs, but it’s interesting to see the proportions shift over the years. The collection ends with Kevin Godley and Lol Creme’s anomalous but interesting post-10cc hit ”Cry.”
