Title:

Second You Sleep

Description:
Danish rock band established 1993 in Nyborg by vocalist Søren Huss, guitarist Thomas Dahl (4), bassist Jeppe Langebek Knudsen and drummer Palle Sørensen. The name ”Saybia” originates from the logo on a Sabian cymbal.

In 1998 Dahl quit the band and was replaced by guitarist Sebastian Sandstrøm. Additionally it was expanded by keyboard player Jess Jensen.

In 2000 the band moved to the Danish capital Copenhagen, where they began writing and rehearsing new songs in their own studio.

In June 2001 Saybia got a record deal with EMI and released the self-titled 6-tracks EP Saybia. Songs like ”Fools Corner” and ”The Day After Tomorrow” got massive airplay on Danish national radio channel DR P3.

On 21 January 2002 the debut album The Second You Sleep was released. The album wrote history as it was the first debut rock album to go straight to no. 1 on the Danish album charts. Furthermore the single ”The Second You Sleep” was released in Belgium, Finland, Germany Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. At the Danish Music Awards the same year the band won three awards: ”Album of the Year”, ”Group of the Year” and ”Singer of the Year”.
