This album was written by Herbie as a quartets music, according to the author of the liner notes which would have been normally problematic without the 5th instrument such as a saxophone to support. On “One Finger Snap” this came clearer on the drummer’s solo at the end. He wailed on it there! Oliloqui Valley typifies great listening and classic jazz. It would take a jazz group of some note to bring out the jazz eloquence, balance and smoothness these artist produced in this album. Highly regarded by me and damned glad its in my collection!
