Van 1966 tot 1968 vormden Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker en Eric Clapton de zeer succesvolle psychedelische bluesrockformatie Cream. In korte tijd maakte het trio vier albums: Fresh Cream, Disraeli Gears, Wheels Of Fire en Goodbye. Live Cream, Vol. 1 en 2 verschenen in 1970 en ’72. Alle nummers van deze albums zijn verzameld op Those Were The Days. Ze zijn netjes verdeeld over vier cd’s: het in de studio opgenomen materiaal staat op de eerste twee cd’s en het live-werk op cd drie en vier. Eerder niet uitgebrachte demo’s van You Make Me Feel, We’re Going Wrong en Hey Now Princess, een live-uitvoering van Sunshine Of Your Love en ’onbewerkte versies’ van NSU en Toad zijn de extra’s op deze collectie, die wordt geleverd met een prachtig boek.
