Title:

Minstrel In The Gallery

Description:
Label: Chrysalis – CHR 1082 (UK)
1st pressing (September 1975) – Matrix CHR 1082 A-1U 31922 / B-1U 31923

This is the true first UK pressing of Jethro Tull – Minstrel in the Gallery, identifiable by its earliest 1U/1U matrix and sleeve misprint.

Features and identifiers:
• Vinyl: Heavy UK pressing with earliest 1U stampers; machine-stamped matrices “CHR 1082 A-1U 31922 / B-1U 31923”.
• Label: Original green Chrysalis label with “Made in Gt Britain” text. No Warner Communications logo (which appeared on later issues).
• Sleeve: Standard single sleeve (not gatefold), unlaminated, printed by Robor Ltd. in England.
• Back cover misprint: The rear cover photo is printed upside down, a known error affecting the very first production run. Later sleeves corrected this.
• Inner sleeve: Supplied with plain white die-cut paper inner; some early copies also included a separate lyric insert.
• Release date: September 1975 (UK).

Estimated value:
• EX to NM copies with the misprinted sleeve typically command £40–£60 (≈ US$50–75).
• VG+/EX copies without inserts or with light wear generally sell for £25–£35.
• Because the upside-down back photo was corrected quickly, misprinted first press sleeves are scarcer and more collectible than later variants.
