Led Zeppelin’s ”Houses of the Holy” is the band’s fifth studio album, originally released in 1973 and here presented in a remastered reissue edition. The cover shows the iconic Hipgnosis design of nude, fair‑haired children climbing over the surreal basalt columns of the Giant’s Causeway under an intense orange sky, with a vertical white obi‑style strip down the left side carrying the stylized title text ”Led Zeppelin – Houses of the Holy.” This edition is a 180‑gram vinyl LP remaster issued in a gatefold sleeve, replicating the original packaging and including a paper obi strip. The album contains eight tracks that expand Led Zeppelin’s sound beyond traditional hard rock into progressive rock, reggae‑influenced rhythms, and atmospheric ballads. Key songs include ”The Song Remains the Same,” ”The Rain Song,” ”Over the Hills and Far Away,” ”Dancing Days,” ”D’yer Mak’er,” ”No Quarter,” and ”The Ocean.” Recording sessions took place in 1972 at several notable studios: Stargroves in England using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, Headley Grange with the Stones Mobile, Island Studios in London, Electric Lady Studios in New York, and Olympic Studios in London. The record was produced by guitarist Jimmy Page, with engineering and mixing contributions from George Chkiantz, Keith Harwood, and others. It was released on Atlantic and later reissued under the Led Zeppelin imprint as part of the band’s remaster campaign, with this pressing manufactured in Europe/UK and carrying barcode 0081227965730. The album is widely regarded as a classic rock landmark and is certified multi‑platinum, featuring intricate arrangements, dynamic production, and a blend of hard rock, progressive rock, and reggae‑tinged grooves.
