Logos Live is a live electronic music album by German group Tangerine Dream, recorded in concert at the Dominion Theatre in London, England on 6 November 1982 and released by Virgin Records in December 1982. The cover shown features the subtitle ”Recorded live at the Dominion - London - 1982” beneath a stage photograph of the trio performing in front of a huge glowing sun-like backdrop, surrounded by synthesizer rigs and sequencer racks, with the audience visible in the foreground. The album is considered the band’s eighteenth major release and their fourth live album. It documents a crucial transitional period in Tangerine Dream’s sound, moving from their earlier experimental, long-form improvisations toward more melodic, structured compositions, while still retaining extended sequencer-driven passages and atmospheric segues. The performance material on Logos Live largely consists of new music created specifically for the 1982 UK tour, parts of which would later be reworked or referenced in the band’s soundtrack work, notably for the 1983 film ”The Keep” and the soundtrack album ”Risky Business.” The original release presents around fifty minutes excerpted from a much longer concert, shaped into two large-scale suites, ”Logos Part 1” and ”Logos Part 2,” plus the closing piece ”Dominion.” Within these long tracks fans recognize subsections often titled ”Logos Intro,” ”Logos Cyan,” ”Logos Velvet,” ”Logos Red,” ”Logos Blue,” ”Logos Black,” ”Logos Green,” ”Logos Yellow,” and ”Logos Coda,” representing shifting themes, moods, and sequencer patterns. The album showcases the classic early‑80s Tangerine Dream line-up of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Johannes Schmoelling, each surrounded by analog and early digital synthesizers, sequencers and electronic percussion. Recorded using the Manor Mobile unit, Logos Live has become one of the group’s most highly regarded live documents and a key title in their Virgin-era discography, frequently praised by collectors and critics for its immersive atmosphere and coherent flow compared with typical rock live albums.
