Later that same year he appeared as Minnie Mouse’s dog named Rover but it wasn’t until 1931 in The Moose Hunt that he was renamed as Pluto and became Mickey’s best pal and loyal companion. Unlike Goofy, who was created as a human character, Pluto was specifically created as a dog.
