These illegally produced stamps were created and distributed by a British stamp dealer and his associates. The Republic of Mountainous Karabakh also known as Republic of Nagorno Karabakh has been in constant conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan since the Soviet breakup in 1991. Many "issues” have been listed by some of the major catalogs although none are recognized by the UPU nor by PostEurop. These obviously are not listed and are deemed as illegal productions made from outside sources not associated with either country. This set not even recognized by Europa specialists. The Republic did not issue any Europa themed "stamps” until 2008.
