Lev Efimovich Solovyev (1894-1973) was a Soviet/Russian archaeologist and art historian who specialized in the study of ancient and medieval art and architecture. He worked as a professor at Moscow State University and led numerous excavations in Russia, Georgia, and Armenia. Solovyev is particularly known for his contributions to the study of early Christian and Byzantine art, as well as his work on the architecture of ancient Caucasian cultures. He was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1951 and the Order of Lenin in 1967 for his achievements in the field of archaeology.
