Valeriy Gamgiya (1944-1992) was a Georgian artist known for his contributions to the development of Georgian contemporary art. He was born in the village of Chokhatauri in western Georgia and studied art at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. Gamgiya’s works often depicted Georgian landscapes and rural life, and he was also known for his abstract compositions. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Georgia and abroad and was recognized as one of the leading figures of the Georgian avant-garde art movement.
