Algerian guerrillas were part of the National Liberation Army (Armée de Libération Nationale, or ALN) which fought against French colonial rule in Algeria from 1954 to 1962. The ALN was the military wing of the National Liberation Front (Front de Libération Nationale, or FLN), which was the leading organization of the Algerian independence movement. The guerilla war involved a variety of tactics including bombings, ambushes, and sabotage, as well as more conventional military engagements. The conflict resulted in the independence of Algeria from France in 1962.
