Description:
The Winter Olympic Games of 1968 were held in Grenoble, France from February 6 to February 18, 1968. It was the 10th edition of the Winter Olympics, and the first time the games were held in France. Over 1,150 athletes from 37 countries participated in 35 events across 6 sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, and luge. The games were marked by the dominance of the French team, who won 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals, and the historic performance of Peggy Fleming, who won the only gold medal for the United States in figure skating. The emblem of the games featured the Olympic rings in blue, white and red to represent the French flag, with a stylized snowflake and the name "Grenoble 1968” in bold letters.
