Title:

Barbary Stag (Cervus elaphus barbarus)

Description:
The drawing on the stamp is based on a photo.
Cervus elaphus barbarus, also known as the Barbary stag or Atlas stag, is a subspecies of red deer native to North Africa, specifically the Atlas Mountains and neighboring areas. They are the largest mammal in the North African region, with males weighing up to 300 kilograms and having large antlers that can reach up to a meter in length. They are herbivores and primarily eat leaves, grasses, and other vegetation. Due to hunting and habitat destruction, the population of Barbary stags has declined, and they are now considered endangered. Efforts are being made to conserve and protect the remaining populations.
