A former Corgi casting that made a very short run as a Hot Wheels Vehicle before being retired. The Casting features a trailer hitch and opening rear hatch. This is known as the "Ford Mustang Turbo Cobra 79”. During it’s time as a Corgi casting, which started in 1981, this casting was called "Ford Mustang Cobra” same as the Hot Wheels version.
For 1979, the ’Turbo’ variation of the Cobra Mustang was equipped with a 2.3 Litre Overhead Cam (OHC) engine and was introduced in October 1978. The 1997 release of this casting features a black racing stripe tampo with ’5.0 MUSTANG’ in large text. Comically, the casting lacks the raised centre of the bonnet/hood to accommodate for such an engine size. However, the casting features the grille design from the ’Turbo 79’ 5.0 Mustang.
