Title:
GER Class Y14 663
Description:
Worsdell’s Y14 class of engines were introduced by the Great Eastern in 1883 and were so successful that a total of 289 were built. Notable for their Route Availability of 1 – meaning they could traverse the mostly lightly-laid of routes – they were true mixed traffic engines, with many seeing service in France and Belgium during World War I. Back on home soil, they were allocated to most major depots in the East of England, with Stratford, Cambridge and Norwich receiving the largest number.
Another scratch-built masterpiece from the workbench of Wally Mayhew, this wonderfully authentic rendition of the prototype has been professionally painted and lightly weathered to depict a hard-working but cared-for engine. It features superb brass detailing and a charismatically rendered footplate crew
