Game Summary:
Boxyboy is a puzzle game for the NEC TurboGrafx-16, based on the classic Sokoban warehouse puzzle formula created by Thinking Rabbit. Known in Japan as Sōkoban World, the game puts you in the role of a warehouse worker who must push crates around top‑down maze-like stages, carefully maneuvering them onto designated storage spots. You can only push (not pull) crates, so a single careless move can render a level unsolvable, though you can undo recent moves. The TurboGrafx-16 version adds a large set of new stages—sources vary between 100 and 250 levels—spread across multiple world locations, each with its own background graphics and layouts. A construction mode lets players design and save their own puzzles, further extending replay value. Boxyboy emphasizes careful planning and logical thinking over reflexes, making it a pure, methodical puzzle experience on NEC’s 16-bit HuCard-based system.
