Magic Knight Rayearth is an action role-playing game for the Sega Saturn based on the CLAMP manga and anime of the same name. As a dimension built on the power of dreams crumbles toward extinction, three schoolgirls—Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji—are transported from Tokyo Tower to the magical world of Cephiro. There they learn that they are the legendary Magic Knights, destined to rescue the kidnapped Princess Emerald and restore balance to the realm. The player controls all three heroines, switching between them in real time to take advantage of their unique weapons, elemental magic, and abilities while exploring dungeons, solving light environmental puzzles, talking with townspeople, and battling monsters in top-down action combat. Progression focuses on story-driven upgrades rather than traditional grinding, and the North American release features an English dub, redone interface, and three different character-themed disc artworks.
