Game Summary:
Bethesda Studios has brought Star Trek to your early morning bus ride into work with Tactical Assault on the PSP. This tactical shooter brings the familiar setting of the original series to life as you think and fight your way through a galactic conflict.
Players will command the ships ranging from frigates to dreadnought class behemoths in battles that will demand as much cunning and forward planning as they will quick reflexes and fast moving thumbs. In the primary game, you’ll take command of either a Federation or Klingon ship and fight your way through story-driven campaigns. There’s a healthy dose of real time strategy mixed in with the phaser-firing torpedo-tossing action, so don’t expect to be able to whip your ship around and take down your opponent simply by having nimble fingers. You’ll need to know your enemy’s weaknesses (as well as your own) to take them apart piece by piece.
You’ll also have your own living, breathing crew. Well, not quite living or breathing, but they’ll be as close as you’re likely to get on a console. Managing them will play a crucial part of your strategy. Promoting a navigator, for example, will increase your manoeuvrability while promoting an engineer will improve repair times.
Thrown into the mix for good measure is Multiplayer Mode. Using the PSP’s wireless functionality, players can compete head to head or team up against AI-controlled enemies. Multiplayer mode will also up the number of races you can play as, with Romulan, Federation, Klingon, and Gorn fleets all on offer.
