The 1917 “Jenny” introduced Americans to the age of aviation. Thousands of army and Navy pilots earned their wings in this trainer during World War I. The Jenny was never used in combat, and after the war, the surplus aircraft were converted for civilian use. Pilot spot the planes for a little is $300 and Barnes stormed the country, thrilling crowds of spectators at airshows. The JN – 4D Bosted an eight cylinder engine and flu at speeds of up to 75 mph. Jenny’s also delivered US air mail beginning in 1918.
