That wall of Funko Pops in your spare room? Most of them are worth about what you paid — $12 to $15. Some are worth less. But scattered among the commons, there might be a figure worth $500, $5,000, or in a few wild cases, more than a used car.
The Funko Pop market is unpredictable. A figure nobody cared about three years ago can spike overnight when a character shows up in a new show or movie. Convention exclusives that sold out in minutes can be worth thousands a year later. And then some “limited edition” figures drop in value the second you open the box.
Here’s what’s actually worth money right now.
The Ultra-Rare Grails ($10,000+)
These are the Funko Pops that make collectors sweat. Most of them were produced in quantities under 25 and given away at events. If you have one, you probably already know.
1. Freddy Funko as Ghost Rider (Glow) — $30,000+
Only 12 made. Given to SDCC 2013 attendees who won a Funko lottery. The glow-in-the-dark Ghost Rider Freddy Funko is the most expensive Pop that regularly trades hands. Some listings have hit $35,000.
2. Freddy Funko as Tony Stark — $25,000+
Another SDCC lottery prize, limited to 12 pieces. The Marvel crossover with the Freddy mascot makes this a double-collector magnet — Funko completionists AND Marvel collectors both want it.
3. Clockwork Orange (Glow Chase) — $22,000+
Limited to 12 pieces. The base Clockwork Orange Pop was already vaulted and valuable, but the glow-in-the-dark chase variant is in another dimension entirely. One sold for $60,000 in 2022, though recent sales have settled around $22,000-$25,000.
4. Freddy Funko as Count Chocula (Glow) — $20,000+
24 pieces. The cereal mascot crossover that nobody expected to become a $20,000 collectible. Funko + nostalgia + low production = insane values.
5. Freddy Funko as Buzz Lightyear (Glow) — $15,000+
25 pieces, given out at SDCC between 2011 and 2013. Disney + Pixar + Funko mascot + glow-in-the-dark + under 25 made = the perfect storm.
High-Value Grails ($3,000–$10,000)
6. Planet Arlia Vegeta — $10,000+
The first major Dragon Ball Z grail. This NYCC 2014 exclusive was limited production and has only gone up over the years as the anime collecting community has grown. One of the few non-Freddy Pops in the five-figure range.
7. Alex DeLarge Chase — $8,000+
From A Clockwork Orange. The vaulted chase variant with a distinct paint job. The regular version is already worth several hundred — the chase is worth ten times more.
8. Freddy Funko as Darth Maul — $9,000+
480 pieces — “massive” by Freddy Funko standards, but still tiny by normal Pop production volumes. Star Wars + Funko mascot = collectors fighting over a very small pool.
9. Stan Lee (Superhero Metallic Red, Signed) — $8,000+
A signed metallic Stan Lee Pop. The signature alone adds thousands to any Funko, and Stan Lee figures have only become more valuable since his passing in 2018.
10. Holographic Darth Maul — $7,500+
One of the early Star Wars Pops, given out at SDCC 2012. The holographic variant is instantly recognizable and has been climbing steadily for years.
Pops That Might Be Worth More Than You Think
You don’t need a $10,000 grail to have valuable Pops. Check your shelves for:
Vaulted figures from popular franchises. “Vaulted” means Funko stopped making it. A common Pop that gets vaulted can jump from $12 to $50-$200 if the character stays relevant. Vaulted Disney villains, vaulted anime characters, and vaulted horror figures tend to climb the most.
Convention exclusives from 2012-2018. SDCC, NYCC, and ECCC exclusives from the early Funko years had much smaller production runs than today’s releases. If you bought any during that window and kept them boxed, check the current values.
Chase variants you forgot about. Chase Pops have a different paint job or pose and a “Chase” sticker on the box. They’re packed roughly 1 in 6 in cases. Some chases from popular lines are worth 5-20x the common version.
First appearances. The first Pop ever made of a character tends to hold value better than subsequent versions. The original Mandalorian Pop is worth more than the 15 variants that came after it.
How to Check Your Collection’s Value
Two approaches:
Quick check on specific figures: Search eBay for the Pop name + “sold listings.” Filter by “Sold Items” to see actual sale prices, not wishlisting asking prices.
Track your entire collection: Download iCollect Vinyl Figures, scan each Pop’s barcode, and the app shows estimated values. You can see your total collection value at a glance — and it updates as the market moves.
Protecting Your Investment
If you’ve got valuable Pops:
- Keep boxes mint. A Pop in a damaged box can lose 40-60% of its value vs a mint box. Invest in Pop protectors ($2 each) for anything worth over $50.
- Store out of sunlight. UV damage fades paint and yellows boxes. A window display looks great until your $500 Pop becomes a $200 Pop.
- Document everything. Photograph your collection and track it in iCollect Everything. If anything gets stolen or damaged, you have a complete inventory with values for insurance.
- Consider grading for high-value pieces. Companies like PSA and Funko Grading authenticate and grade Pops. A PSA 9.5 or 10 grade can double the value of an already-expensive figure.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most expensive Funko Pop ever?
The Willy Wonka & Oompa Loompa Golden Ticket 2-Pack sold for $210,000 in 2023. Only 10 were ever made. Among individual figures, the Freddy Funko as Ghost Rider (Glow) at $30,000+ is the most expensive regularly-traded Pop.
How do I know if my Funko Pop is rare?
Look for: convention exclusive stickers (SDCC, NYCC, ECCC), “Chase” stickers, “Vaulted” status (Funko stopped making it), limited edition numbering, and Freddy Funko variants. Use iCollect Everything to scan the barcode and check estimated values.
Are Funko Pops a good investment?
Some are. Convention exclusives and low-production Freddy Funkos have historically appreciated well. Common Pops from current lines rarely increase in value. The best strategy is to collect what you love and let value be a bonus — not to buy Pops purely as investments.
How do I track what my Funko Pop collection is worth?
Download iCollect Vinyl Figures (free on iPhone and Android). Scan your Pops, and the app tracks estimated values that update over time. See your total collection value at a glance.
