Version 8.5 brings collapsible sections, more layout options in preparation for new trading cards collectible types

It’s been a while since we’ve posted an update here on the site, but we’ve been hard at work daily on features that will be of importance to not just our current users and collectible types, but also to the various trading card categories (sports and non-sports) we have planned to launch this summer. So first off, here’s what’s in version 8.5 of our iCollect apps for iOS rolling out this week (Android updates coming later in 2024).

What’s New in 8.5

  • Revamped Switch tab: Collectible types are now seperated into collapsible sections. Now you’ll see Media and Collectibles, and later this year you’ll also see Trading Cards Sports and Trading Cards Non-Sports with many options for those as well.

  • Create Your Own custom collections: Updated and more visible button for custom collections on the Switch tab.

  • Collapsible Sections: On the Main, Wishlist, and Database views, you are now capable of quickly collapsing sections to for more compact views of your data. Simply touch the chevron icon on the left side of a section header to expand or collapse sections. This feature is especially important for our users with large collections, or collections that have many similar items, and is very useful for trading card sets or comic books runs. The is essentially the equivalent of having “folders” and is highly useful when filling out and sorting by the Collection field within your item’s details.

  • Show/Hide the Title on Grid layout style
  • Expand/Collapse all Sections quickly
  • Smaller picture size options on Grid layout: Useful for the upcoming trading cards updates

  • Duplicate any item: Scroll to the bottom of your item details and you’ll see a new option to duplicate your item quickly and easily! This has been a highly requested feature for a long time and we’re happy to finally add it.

Bug Fixes

  • Selections in the Show/Hide Fields view now apply to the Edit screens
  • Estimated values are now exported correctly
  • Updated the layout of the export CSV file
  • Fixed a crash when moving an item from the wishlist to the main collection
  • Fixed a crash with Estimated Values

What’s Next

We’re still working hard on getting trading cards collectible types out as quickly as possible, and the iCollect apps will have full card image recognition included! We plan to then roll this type of image recognition out to other collectible types like coins, stamps, toy cars, comics, and more throughout 2024. To support trading cards and comics, the main feature we’re working on within the app currently is Bulk Adding via Database Search, which will allow you to quickly add full sets of cards, or full runs of comic books, with easy. Currently our user interface is very clunky when trying to add many items quickly that don’t have barcodes, so we’re trying to fix this for everything this year.

After that, look for some major updates to the desktop apps, Pro user features, and bringing this all to Android.

As always, we’ll keep you up-to-date here on the website and on our social media platforms when new features are launched!
